This package makes an ideal add-on package for individuals or groups looking for the opportunity to spend a few days experiencing the Mayan culture first-hand.

Day l
Transfer from Belize City to the Cayo District for 3 overnights at duPlooy's in a Jungle Lodge Room or choose another Cayo Accommodation.
Stop at the Belize Zoo en route, if time permits.

Day 2
After breakfast head to Belize Botanic Gardens and join your guide for a Traditional Healer's Walk to learn about medicinal plants used by the Maya. Afterwards visit the Maya House and try your hand at a local craft, such as roof-thatching or broom making. After lunch have a guided tour of Xunantunich, a nearby Maya archeological site.

Day 3
Visit the Women's Co-op in San Antonio, a modern Mayan Village where the people preserve their traditions and language while living in the 21st century. Tour the farm and see how this Maya family lives sustainably on 2 acres of land. Here animal and vegetable waste is composted to grow an organic garden and fuel a bio-digester, which provides gas for firing earthenware made from local clays.

Afterwards, try your hand at making your own wood-fired tortillas or tamales for lunch .... After lunch be dropped off at a spot on the Macal River to tube your way down-river, before returning to your hotel.

Day 4
Transfer to your next destination or continue on with either our Garifuna Cultural or Toledo Maya Cultural tours.

A Belize Departure Tax of US $39.25 per person is not included in our package prices. Most airlines now include this cost in their ticket price. If it is not included, you will need to pay this Tax, in US$, directly to the airport authorities at Philip S. Goldson International Airport, on the date of your departure.
