Conservation Through Action
Belize Explorer offers students environmental tours that
are both adventurous and educational, where
the focus is Tropical Rainforest Conservation & Cultural
Exchange.
Participants hike, bike and paddle
across Belize's spectacular tropical landscape
and participate
in programs with teachers, farmers and conservationists.
Students camp in the wilderness, on farms,
at family-owned retreats and research stations
or
patronize village home-stay programs. Our food
is always homemade and prepared fresh by our
hosts. |
|
Some of our programs are purely outdoor educational,
such as Hike-Bike-Paddle-Sail where
students traverse the full length of a watershed from
mountain-top streams all the way down to the coral
reef.
Other
programs, such as Watershed
Ecology include lectures by local university
professors and opportunities for students to engage
in data collection. And others, such as the Chiquibul
Wilderness Challenge, place
Belizean and visiting students together in Belize's
most remote and inaccessible national park to brainstorm
conservation alternatives for an area increasingly
under threat of development.
Village
Homestay programs place students in villages
from where they can engage in a wide variety of
research and community conservation activities
working alongside the local population.
The above programs cater mostly to small high school and university
groups (12-15 pax), and can be customized and combine with any
of the Sample Itineraries listed.
We also have Educational Tour opportunities for individuals and smaller groups
Las Cuevas Research Station has recently begun welcoming eco-tourists and now visitors have the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and help scientists, or join field courses similar to those the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh MSc students take part in.
Jungle Survival Courses - Fellow survival enthusiasts will take you into the remote and pristine Chiquibul Reserve. You'll be accompanied by an ADVENTURETREX jungle survival instructor, along with two experienced local Mayan guides, who will teach you just how accommodating you can make your survival in a jungle setting, with almost none of the traditional worldly trappings.
